What does the term inactive mean?

Hi All,

I haven't been around for a while and having just started to use DS again I've noticed that I keep coming across the term inactive against a product both in my wishlist and product list.

Can someone explain what that means in regard to bought products in particular? Is the item gone for good or only temporarlily?

Thanks

  • It means it's not in the store to buy - usually for older versions of Studio or other software, the Beta versions, or products that have been retired. It'll still be in your product library for downloading.

That means the PAs that were selling the products here have removed them from the store. Some artists have transferred to other stores recently.

  • It means that an item has been pulled from the store. Usually because the vendor left for some reason, and is sometimes selling their products elsewhere(competing shops/their own website). Sometimes for other unknown reasons. But those items are likely never going to become available here again.

    Thanks for the responses.

So I can happily remove these items from my wishlist and hopefully the one I saw in the product library I can still download, off to check.

    Thanks again...

One more question. I can remove things from my wishlist by clicking on the heart on the product page. Is there a way to remove them inside the wishlist? The two inactive items I've clicked on take me to an oops page.

I'm looking but not seeing anything. Could just be I've had a senior look and I'm missing something though...

In your wishlist, do you see a little yellow heart in the top, right corner of the thumbnails? Clicking that might remove them.

Thanks Quasar, that works a treat!

Iirc, sometimes inactive stuff has been bought by daz, too. In that case, it might be back as a DO.

  • Also, sometimes inactive stuff is because something in it broke and they're working on fixing what broke before turning it back on in the listings.

They must be constantly updating the texture for the grass. No matter what store you're in, the other store's grass seems greener.

Sickleyield have got an inactive item listed in their sale today, the SSY Spindle Fae clothes for Genesis 8 Female. It's on the sale page but if you click on it you get page not found.

The main store page? That sounds more like a site error than being inactive, unless it actually says "Inactive"> Never mind, I see it - will report.

The PA sale has been kicking out a lot of these items, which are mstly showing up in the wishlist sales.  I'm currently showing four of them, one of which, XYZ's Short Bob Hair for Genesis 9, is fairly recent and may be coming back, while the other three are a bit older and less likely to return : the Spartech Missile Launcher, Damanged Painted Plaster Wall Texture Shaders, Tinted & Textured Glass Iray Shaders, and Modern Carpet Pattern Iray shaders

Interesting...I hope the ones I deleted were meant to be inactive. Too late now as I've deleted them.

Too much in my wishlist anyway...lol

Wouldn't count on it - Xia hair still hasn't returned. I bought Xin, and the cart was around a multiple of ten (for tokens), so I left Xia hair for the next day's cart. But poof - gone. It put me off the artist, and I haven't purchased any of their subsequent products.

Trying to figure out what's really going on when a product is pulled from the store is like a murder investigation with a missing body and all the eyewitnesses refusing to testify, especially with all these vendors at both DAZ and Rendo suddenly pulling items from one store and moving them the other.  That said, while I'm not sure exactly when Xia hair vanished, I know that Xin only came out back in May, so that's just four months, which is well within the definition of "DAZ soon".  Personally, I've seen products disappear for much longer periods than that only to show up again, and assuming that the item was pulled for a technical reason, the odds are that any fix would have to be worked into the pipeline after other products that the PA has in the works.
