Shading Instances

I have a product called Easy Environment Vertigo Tower.

...but I cannot seem to reshade it.

Is it an instance?  

is there a plug-in that reshades instances? ...like adding my own selection of rust or other surfaces?

Is there a plug-in that will reshade sufaces of instances?  Or is that not possible?

    I have it, but haven't got it installed yet.

    If it uses instances, you can't change an instance independent from the original. You can change all, i.e. the original and all instances.

    I don't know if DS can realize instances, so they become their own geometry, but at least I can't remember seing that.

    I wonder if this particular product can be re-shaded. ??  Right now, I can only use it as it is.

    Whata re you selecting? Even if it is isntanced selecting the base item should allow you to rexture, though every instance would get the same change.

    Sorry I was late getting back!

    I selected item in products and surfaces.  Of course...I may have forgotten to try another tool.  Your reply, reminded me of that.  I'll give it a try.
