Solitaire by Meipe, I Can't apply materials

I just bought this addon: http://www.daz3d.com/solitaire-by-meipe

However I can't apply any texture to it, here is how it looks:

If I choose full bedroom set it's the same, everything has no textures

Do you see the material when you render?  Shaders for example may not even have a visible material in the preview viewport window, only after rendering.  Many things also look different in the preview window.

Or, do you get any sort of error message when you try to apply it?

Solitaire's materials are all custom shaders, or custom shader-based. They all appear more or less white in the Studio workspace, and don't show up until you render. That threw me when I first bought the set as well.

  • I run Daz as administrator and try to render the bed but it has no material still. I use Iray for renderings.

Maybe that`s the problem. I think this is not for iray and will only work in 3Delight.

I never used it with iray so I dont know. Try it with a 3Deleight render and see if it works.

Update: I tried it and I`m right; it is for 3Delight. You can`t use it in iray render.

Solitaire was released before Iray was part of Studio, so its materials are only for 3Delight, as R2SS notes. If you have shaders for Iray, you can resurface everything, but you can't use the materials it came with in Iray, because they're all custom shaders very specifically designed for 3Delight.

It looks like some/most of the textures make use of tiling in the custom shaders, much like the Fabricator line of shader presets, so it would be possible to Iray equivalents, using the default maps...

  • It would probably be useful if the product description mentioned that the item was 3Delight only.

Rule of the thumb: if there's no mention of Iray on the product page then it wasn't made for Iray.

Iray is a rather recent development in DS history, so a huge part of the DAZ store catalog won't have Iray materials.
