[Solved] Some Pose Controls Not Working After Migrating to New PC
I bought a new PC about 2 months ago, installed Daz (v4.22.0.16) and transferred all of my assets over to it. Then, I started working in Blender and took a break from Daz for a while. Now I'm getting back into it and I'm noticing that some of the head pose controls (G8F) are no longer functioning, or have dissapeared all together. It's not like that with all of my characters, but on some, I can't seem to open the mouth or make the eyes look up and down, even though I'm able to move the slider. When I open a stock G8F character, almost all of the head pose controls are just gone.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on here? I'm assuming I did something wrong during install, but maybe it's a known issue? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

There is genesis female 8 and also 8.1. So you might be on the incorrect base?
I'm not sure about being on the wrong base. When I open the G8F base character, I get only the controls shown in the attached image. No eyes, cheeks and jaw, vismes, or neck.
Well, are you sure you really loaded a G8F rather than a G8.1F ? From your screenshot, there's a Path: Expression 8.1 which shouldn't appear on a G8F but G8.1F ...
Anyway, since you select Head node, there should be only alias properties. Open File Browser, go to : your Daz Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\DAZ 3D\Base Pose Head\ Check if you can find *.dsf files starting with "alias".
Yup. Definitely opened G8F. The reason it shows Expression 8.1 is because I removed the FACS files in the 8.1 head controls so I could use G8F expressions on G8.1F. Ever since then, both Expressions and Expressions 8.1 show up for both G8F and G8.1F.
With that said, I actually figured out the issue. My two directories had conflicting versions of the "alias" files. In one directory, the head controls file was only about 800kb, but in the other directory, it was 1.2mb. Just had to copy the larger of the two files over to the directory that had the smaller file and BAM! It worked again. Lol.
I'm a bit lost ~~ though you have it fixed...
I know the way of removing dummy blockers in G8.1 data folder to make G8.0's Base Pose Head / Expressions work on G8.1 but I don't understand if a G8.0 can use FACS properties from G8.1 (because I never know with the default way, G8.0 can load FACS properties from G8.1)... How did you configure it to be exactly ? You copied FACS folder from 8.1 data folder to 8.0 ? or something... then modified DSF files ?
I could be, and probably am wrong about the reason why it shows both G8 and G8.1 expressions, but I know it happened after I removed the blocker files. All I did (that I'm aware of) was zip the FACS folders, then delete the non-zipped versions. Since this is confusing you, I'm betting I did something else in the process and just didn't realize it. Lol. When I did it, my Daz was pulling from 4 separate directories, so it's very possible that I did something to cause this while removing the dummy files.
Okay... but I'm still out of curiosity... Maybe you can go to your Daz Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\DAZ 3D\ to check if there's any FACS folder there... there shouldn't be...
Then in Parameters pane, under Pose Controls > Expressions 8.1, what're there on earth ? If there're expressions, do they really work ? and choose one to open its Parameter Settings, show a screeshot if possible. Thank you !
It turns out there was a FACS folder there. I must have copied it there by accident when I was removing the dummy files from 8.1. But even after I removed it, Expressions 8.1 was still visible in G8F head controls. Then I noticed that only one set of expressions was there: "Perfect Pinups Film Nior." I removed that file from my G8F directory and Expressions 8.1 dissapeared. While it was still visible, I did try applying an 8.1 expression to G8F, but she just looked back at me with a blank stare. Lol. So sadly, 8.1 expressions won't work on G8. But, at least I don't have Expressions 8.1 listed in G8F head controls anymore.
Oh, perfect ! It proves that we're correct.
