Pictures in Posts in forums: CAN Do It (can't is resolved)

Hello,
I've been trying to add pictures to my posts and am struggling with how to do it. I thought I knew (steps I use below) but it's not working.
1. Type text in body of the post for the title of picture, highlight the title
2. Click picture icon
3. Input the URL of the picture page from my gallery, input 800 wide, on the second page select for target "New window"
4. should work, doesn't :(
Since I couldn't get that to work, I tried to attach an image. When I do, I get a message that says "No file data could be found in your post." I'm not sure what that means. I was attaching a picture that opens just fine in Photoshop (a png.)
If anyone could help me troubleshoot this, I'd be eternally grateful.

I got this.
What does actuaaly happen when you paste the url and size?
When I put the URL into the URL field, then put 800 in the width field, I get a huge red box with an X in where the box previously had text.
I can't share a picture, I'm so sorry.
That sounds like what you add in url is not an image url.
This is the url I used: https://gcdn.daz3d.com/gallery/image/522246/main.jpg
Make sure you are pasting the link to the image directly - not the page hosting the image.
e.g. use this: https://gcdn.daz3d.com/gallery/image/522246/main.jpg
instead of this: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/user/5343505408851968#gallery=newest&page=1&sort=trending&image=522246
In order to get the link to the actual picture, you can go to the gallery picture page in another tab/window and right click on the image itself. From the drop-down you need to select the option to copy the link to the image - in firefox it is named "Copy Image Link". Other web browsers may vary.
If you want to "embed" an image from the post as opposed to one from the gallery then you need these steps:
Note: at this point your post has been submitted with a thumbnail of the image below it but not yet embedded. Now proceed to the next part.
Your instructions are very detailed. I'll try again but I have yet to get a URL that starts with gcdn.DAZ(etc)
I'll try the embedding too but I never get past the attach the file step. It always tells me the post has no data.
I am off to try again.
Here we go...
@Sofacitizen You are my hero!! Getting the GCDN link was the problem. I never new how to get it.
I feel empowered!
@Felis Thank you for your answers too. You hit on the problem of it me not getting the GCDN link. Bless you both.
Hey guys (@Sofacitizen, @Felis).. I followed the instructions for a new post and the image shows up but it's not got a link to the image in the gallery, it just shows a bigger image of my picture. I rechecked the instructions and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I thought it was to go to the image in the gallery so people can like or not the image.
1. Create the post
2. open gallery picture page in another tab and right click on the image. Copy image URL. It will start with GCDN
3. Paste the GCDN URL in the URL box on the Image Properties window.
4. Set width to 800
If done correctly, the image appears in the preview. Once done, click OK.
Please tell me I'm missing something obvious.

First click the image. Then right-click the image and copy image web-address.
You're not doing anything wrong at all - Linking to the gallery page (so someone can see any text you have added and click the like button) was not covered in what I posted before. Sorry. So there would be an extra step to do that.
When you have added the direct image link and set the width to 800 - but before clicking OK you would need to do the following:
So, going back to the previous example the URL to post into the URL field on the Link tab would be: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/user/5343505408851968#gallery=newest&page=1&sort=trending&image=522246
So, unfortunately, this is a little fiddly to do unless you have your gallery page open in a second tab/window in your browser.
Obviously, with your previous post you can edit it (using the cog icon), right click on the image and click the properties option to open the window and add the link to the Link tab.
Hopefully that makes sense.
It does. Thank you for settling that for me. I was afraid I was doing something wrong. Whew! :) You're the best. Thank you!
@Sofacitizen, @Felis Thank you again for all your help. I wrote down each of the steps and saved it. I still haven't tried the attachment again. I'm happy with what I have working now. :)
