Poser Convert- Noob Question

Hi

I finally got sick-up-and-fed of the problems Poser has had since 2003- the messed-up Content System, the inability to handle Dyson well, etc., and I'm jumping over to DS4.

DS4 handles content pretty well with it's management system. With Poser I have thousands of products, but only 1 Runtime, and then I used a script to sort it all out, and find things.

My question is; Can I make an organized thumbnail Catalog of my poser items, and then in DS4 simply go to the Content Tab and find the particular items alphabetically under 'Products'?

Lolol...I know I prolly can, is there a better way? Making multiple runtimes isn't an option, if that would even help? :)

Thank you

  • This is the sort of thing that the Categories system is designed to handle - you can right-click on on a folder under Poser Formats and add it to a category or create a new category with it.

Odd comments about Poser since it has handled multiple runtimes for many years. I probably have hundreds of them all sorted and subfoldered on my hard drive though some people just organise into 5 or 6 according to their needs. I wonder as well how DSON has been an issue since 2003 when it was only introduced a couple of years ago? Of course Studio didn't exist in 2003 so the issues you'll encounter here (as there are issues with all softwares) are not quite as old. ;-)

    Odd?

Yes, Dyson has just been around since Genesis 5. I'm sorry if anyone took the post to infer that it went back to 2003.There are a plethera of threads in the RDNA Forum of how Dyson will slow to a crawl when working with Dyson. Some say a reboot fixes the problem, some say it doesn't. All say it has to do with the morphs exponentially increasing. I don't know this, only speculstion on my part, but isn't it odd that they didn't make Generation 7 Dyson compatible?

As far as Poser, it's not making the multiple runtimes that are a problem. Although it sure is nice that Studio knows based on what is loaded in the view port, what will and will not work in your entire library(s),No?

How many times have you went to load a product and the hard drive grinds, and grinds, and grinds. Finally it'll pop up a search window and say"you find this part of that file, I can't locate it." 9/10ths out of 10, the file it can't find is right in search window it just poped up. THAT is what went on in 2003, and THAT is going on in Poser Pro 2014, AND they haven't boasted that they've fixed it in PP 2016.

    That's all I was saying. :)

Genesis 3 will not work in Poser, so there is therefore no reason to make a Poser CF for it.  Nothing to do with DSON, just the new technology that is used in Genesis 3.
