    Looking forward to it!

Okay, I've thrown down the gauntlet- I rendered one image that fit both the complicated mad-libs!  Go check it out in the entry thread. It is not going to be an official entry though.

I am working on something too. It should be soon finished :) I am just hoping that I will be able to fit everything together.

Ok I did it :) and now it is in the Entries Thread. I am hoping that I did everything good.

You did! Very clever use of the Mad Libs. We sure can do a lot with those, using dreams. Wonderful idea!

I have another entry in, I tried to make them look like old school style orcs but these newer just look more dangerous I think. Btw I have just found two interesting movie trailers: Orcs! and Orc Wars by Arrowstorm Entertainment on their Youtube channel, they seems a bit horror, though also modern action and fantasy :)

Oh heavens, I just saw your entry!

It's the last day for this and I can only realize I won't have a participating render this month. Having the content management not working in DAZ 4.9 has put a really wet blanket on my creative fires and I've only got a few renders done at all this month.

I really like the concept of this contest though and I hope Novice will have motivation to continue hosting it, even with the drop in entries this month compared to before.

It doesn't hurt to run it, I had fun with my entry. I was planning on doing a you render it, we caption it type contest next month. Those are always funny. Would that be okay with everyone?

  • Definitely Novica!  I'm a little bummed that I didn't get in gear to have a render this month either.  I got sidetracked by real life and a couple of other render projects.  My "Dojo" render that I put up in my gallery literally took most of the month to complete and I was on a deadline for that so it could actually be printed up and head to CA to be presented.  Between that and the New User contest and my nonDS related happenings, I just haven't had much DS time this month.  March isn't looking much better because I still have my nonDS project going on, but I hope I can at least do one or two renders and one will definitely be for this contest next month.  I'll make sure I do that one first.

I love the participation and support, but completely understand focusing on the paying contests before doing this one. If you have a shot at those, go for it!  Of course, Life is the top priority, and I've got to work outside and do MASSIVE amounts of gardening and landscaping (still finishing up from last year, that's how big the project is) to do while it's still cool in the South. So everythings good! Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with though!

Yeah, not so much that it was a paying contest as I like that there are themes to learn about and this month was lighting which I still struggle with, even using purchased lighting sets, getting the specific looks that I'm aiming to get.  My render for this contest last month is a perfect example of my lighting struggles.  The feedback in the new user contests is usually pretty good.  Somewhat lacking this month because as I said I was concentrating on that gift render so I really couldn't even do much with the new user contest.  It still amazes me that I can get the look that I want for some renders while others seem to just escape me and I can't figure out how to get the look I want.  I am definitely not consistent in my limited talent!  That being said, I love this contest because of all of the funny renders you get.  They make me laugh and I think they are kind of on par with the RRR contest.  The renders always end up making me smile.  And with tempers flaring lately, I think we really need those moments of just sitting back and smiling.

I think that would be a great way to get people to partake in this great challenge Novica!!!!

I think it would be fun to do!!!

    sounds like fun!

    how does it work?

do we each make a render, then everyone makes up captions for each others renders?

    I like that idea

The captions idea sounds fun. It could also open up for more people joining in on the fun to make a caption even if they for whatever reason it might be can't make a render. Unless of course there would be a requirement to make a render to get to make captions.

Exactly!  Family friendly only, of course. So you can start on your renders, you know the drill about how to set it up, but this time, put ? for the title. Have fun, and try to create scenes with a lot of expression on the faces if you have characters and lots of action! Remember the focus is on HUMOR.

BTW, I won't be doing anything regarding the contest today, something came up. After the tornado, the newspaper covered the story of a family where the mom and four kids, ages 3-11, huddled in the garage while the storm hit. They had severe damage but were thankful they brought the pet bunnies in from the hutch as it was destroyed. Well, someone broke into the home Sunday while they were at church and robbed them, AND TOOK THE PET BUNNIES. That is just sick. So with a bit of sleuthing I have managed to find the home address (you wouldn't believe how, through video interviews with neighbors from a totally different newspaper) and I am going to find them and offer to treat the kids to a day at the ranch with my horse Stetson. Kids love horses and I'm hoping this will restore faith in people- I know as a child I certainly would be crushed at having someone be so mean.  So won't be setting up the contest voting until tomorrow night. Gotta get to sleep, up in three hours to take someone to the airport. TTYL.

That sounds great! I have trouble working with one caption. I am inclined to doing really strange stuff with many possible meanings. It would be a lot of fun.

That's generous and wonderful what you are doing with the children who lost their pet bunnies. smiley

It took awhile to piece together an address, all it gave was a subdivision (which in Pensacola can be huge) but by watching a video from another news station and following another article, I've pieced it together. They are staying at the sister's house so it might be hard to hook up with them but I'll keep trying. If all else fails I'll contact the reporter, I have his email.

Voting is open- I extended it a day to March 8th as I am posting this near the end of the day on the 1st. Have fun, please vote, and pick 1-4 place winners! I'll get the next contest up tonight or tomorrow. Going to be fun! The way it will work, you put your entries on the Entry thread, but without any Titles. We will put OUR suggestions for your work on the Contest thread (NOT THE ENTRY THREAD) then authors of the render scoop those up and Edit their entries to put all the suggested captions in their Entry posts. Takes a bit of work from the artist submitting the art, but that's also the fun part!

Keep the entries and the captions family friendly please!

I ve voted!  and am thinking about ideas for the next contest!!

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Wow, you're quick! I have the other thread up and am doing the entry thread now. Let me quickly go over a few things here too-

The entries will go on the entry thread, there will be no titles. The suggestions for the captions will NOT be on the entry thread, you put those on the chat thread, like this one. I will do a Summary post of all the suggested captions in the chat thread, making it easy for the artists to copy/paste them and put them over on the Entry thread by EDITING THEIR POSTS.

There is NO story or dialogue allowed at all obviously, because we want the rest of us to interpret what you did. The artists are asked to update the suggested captions once a week. Again, I'll make that easy for you by doing the Summary post (it's already set up, it's the second post of the new chat thread) and I'll poke you via PM if you don't update your entry captions after a week. (Weeks begin each Monday.)  The other thread has the explanation, but that's it in a nutshell. I gave examples.

Have fun! Again, it's bragging rights with a random participating $5 gift card.

I voted!  BTW, you will get an error if you don't put n/a in the suggestion box for a statement. So just put N/A or a statement suggestion in the very last textbox.

    Good luck everyone!
