I don't usually post stuff like this, but since this new hair came with no explanation on the extra part of its shader, I feel the need to make a public post trying to figure it out.
So far I haven't noticed any remarkable changes from the base omnihair shader. At best the noise colour has given some life to an older custom set.
Your thoughts?

I'm not sure which product you are talking about
there is this product:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ak-fashionable-short-hair-for-genesis-9-8-and-81
which is a hair prop with different shader options for the prop. is this what you are talking about?
Yes, that is the product.
If you look at the description, it says it is using a custom omnihair shader the PA made themselves. That is what this thread is about, trying to understand what makes it different from a regular omnihair shader and what each new option means.
Actually it says 'the new', I may be wrong but I think its a new shader that comes with newer versions of DS (im still on 4.21.0.5)
Yea looks as if the omni shader has been updated. this may help

That link is literally about the difference between dual-lobe and omni hairs, not new and old omnihairs.
To explain, this is the typical Omnihair Shader;
And this is what shipped with AK Shorthair;
The latter has more options.
Art Ken is using a customized OmniHair shader.
If you prefer, you can apply the general OmniHair shader, but then the original hair presets can probably not be used.
That is not what I'm after in this thread. I want to understand/experiment what each of these new options does, because the product did not come with a manual for it.
