MindVision.G.D.S. Actual Eyes 4 Not Working

After installing Actual Eyes 4 with DIM as recommended, I find it does not work at all. The How To instructs user to simply select a color after selecting G2F or G2M, but nothing happens. The eyes appear as grey circles. Further, clicking the icon labeled User Guide produces an error message: "Not Found. The requested URL does not reside on this server." Can anyone be of assistance please? Thanks to one and all.

When you apply an eye color, what does the log then say about it Help > Troublshooting > View Log File?

I've just tried the product and I have to say, same result - I even remembered to set render engine to 3Delight! Looks like the product uses a custom 3DL shader.

What I did to get it to work was:

track down the temp directory (F2 for preferences to see where it is if unsure)

Go to that directory in Explorer (or file navigation method of choice)

Delete all the .tdl files (even so far as deleting ANY image file created in current day, to be sure).

Then trying again - you MAY need to reload the texture first, I did not test that

ETA: before I forget, this was with DS 4.21.0.5 under Win 7 (64-bit)

Thanks felis and SimonJM. I appreciate your replies. The log file (I had no idea one would be generated) seems to report that all went along smoothly. I'm no programmer so that's just an impression. SimonJM, your suggestions are more than a little over my head. I'd appreciate some information about the temp directory and what generated it and if it has a predictable name. Thanks again.

Ok, let me see if I can do some screen grabs for you to make the process cleareer - I'll be back in a bit with those. In the meantime the temp directory is the location that Daz Studio uses to perform certain taks when it needs to create an intermediate or temporary file. In this cae those files (temporary) are needed as the product Actual Eyes 4 uses a custom shader nad Daz Studio has to convert some inages into a form that 3Delight can use.

ETA: Ok, here we go, sorry to the length of the edit!

To find the location of the temporary files we need to check the Preferences settings in Daz Studio:

Use the menu options: Edit> Preferences or just press the F2 key
The attached screen shot shows that with me having highlighted the temporary folder.

You can either copy/paste that location into an Explorer window or you can click down through the directory structure manually (I prefer the copy/paste method, but that is me!: Use WindowsKey-E (the WindowsKey should be between the Ctrl and Alt keys in bottom left of your keyboard) to open an Explorer window. To use my 'cheat method' do the following: get up the Prefernces dialog in DS again, highlight by dragging the mouse over the name of the diretcory used as the temporary folder - it should highlight in yellow as you do so - press Ctrl-C to Copy it, then swap to your Explorer window. At the top of that window should be the 'current location - probably just called 'Computer'. Click somewhere in the white space after the location - it will trun blue at teh point to indiacte it has been 'selected', and press Ctrl-V to Paste - you should see the location 'Computer' change to the location of the temporary directory. Press the Enter key to get Windows to recognise that change so it will show the contents of the directory you want to look at.

The directory will contain some sub-directories and, very likely, some files with the last past of the name being .tdl
Select all of those and delete them. That will be enough to get Daz Studio to redo the process, whcih it should to second time around!

This product doesn't support Iray engine no matter for rendering or previewing... You just need to go to Render Settings pane to switch Engine to 3Delight (RSL), then with Spot Render Tool as you activated, you'll see the result...

If you want to make them work Iray, you have to apply Iray Uber Shader to all Eyes related surfaces, then manually tweak settings on the surfaces... (copy / paste will mostly do...)
