Can no longer select & pose figure

I am new to DAZ Studio, and still figuring everything out.  I opened up DAZ Studio today for the first time in about a week, and attempting to create a figure and put it in a scene.  Out of the clear blue sky, and for no reason I can discover, I have lost the ability to select the character, and the specific body parts.  Previously, you could click on a specific body part -- head, torso segments, upper arm, right down to individual finger digits -- that ability is now gone.  Clicking on any part of a hand or arm selects both arms.  Any part of leg or foot selects both legs.  Previously, right clicking on Victoria 8 offered an option to select Victoria 8, the entire figure.  That is gone.  Now the options are all to select surfaces only -- select surface: "Torso"  Or select surface: "Arms" and so on, whatever the cursor is on.

 

I am new at all this, so I am completely lost as to what changed, and how to change it back.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Check the Tools menu - I suspect you had the Universal tool, or one of the individual transform tools (Rotation, Translation, Scale) active before and currently have the Surface Selection Tool active.
