Storybook Frog materials not working on G8 like they should why?

I just discovered that I got materials that will go on the male G8, I hope I still got G8 and he wasn't replaced with 8.1, but they don't. One says 'with gens' and it won't work the other only colors the arms and legs and face.

I paid for this so how do I get it to work?

And no, before anyone asks, there are no gens for any of the characters I got. Not even sure if they exist even if you spend lots of money on pro packs.

It is for G8.1, and between G8 and G8.1 the torso changed to body.

You can apply the material manually, or apply it to a g8.1 character, and then copy body surface to torse surface.
