Make sure, in Render Settings, that you have Constrain Proportion off and that Dimension Preset is not set to Active Viewport. Also remember to use the save buttons in the render or File>Save Last Render (after doing a render, of course) - File>Save is for the scene, the only image it gives is the 91 pixel thumbnail.

You mean like a higher resolution? Wouldn't you just render larger?
