Having problems with wet skin for Gen 9s

Hi folks, recently I purchased the MD wet skins for gen 9.  Unfortunately no matter what I do with it I get the result of BLACK STREAKS or smudges etc all over the figure.  This is NOT using the oil feature, I use the basic wetness setting and I can't seem to get rid of this happening.  Am I missing a step, is my lighting too HIGH.  Starting to get a bit frustrated, so if any of you experienced 'Mystics" in formum land can steer me on the correct path I would be most grateful. What is your lighting? That will make a big difference. I am seeing an oddity with how the Skin reflection slider works, dragging vs typing a value, which are you doing - or are you leaving it at default.
