local connection between two computers to increase power

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

I'm in Render settings -Bridge -Advances tab.
I am trying to network 2 computers in order to join computational power in local mode.
In server I add the ip of the parent computer.
It does not connect. Connection error.
Both computers are on the same network. I did a ping and the packets have been well received.
What am I doing wrong?

    If this is Iray do you have Iray Server installed and set up on both machines?

    If I install iray server, will I use the power of the 2 computers?

    I have not had ccasion to try it (never had two computers capable of working Iray at the same time, and it used to have a hefty license fee) but my understanding is that they can split the task per sample - they don't, however, pool GPU memory so each machine needs to be able to handle the whole scene and only GPUs that can load the whole data set will participate in the rendering.
