Question on Merchant Resources

Can someone explain how these work?  For example.  I purchased the eye lash merchant resource kit.  If I understand this correctly I can move said eyelash to say photoshop, make changes to it (color or whatever) and then can apply this through the surfaces tab to my character?  Or can I apply them directly through daz onto the character without modifying and importing?  Just trying to figure out the work flow for this.  I am very interested in learning how to do this especially for skin and make up but I am not sure I quite understand exactly how this process works.

    The thing about merchant resources is that they are primarily what the name implies...resources that can be used to build texture sets for resale. 

    Pretty much correct...you just put them in on the proper surface in place of the existing diffuse (or whatever map you are replacing) map.  Using them straight up is fine for your own use, but they do need to be altered (and how that is done/what you use to do it is up to you) before they can be redistributed.   And most of them are not useable for free texture packs (at least the skin resources, some of the other...cloth, mostly, are useable for freebies).

    Great thank you!  Ya I am no where near a point where I would be comfortable using these for anything other than my own personal use at this point.  I just like to be able to do as much stuff as possible myself lol.  And I like to learn.
