Rendering help.

I am using an nvida gtx 970 to render a scene with iray. But, while rendering the gpu is being utilized only around 10% which makes the render time a lot longer. Is there a way to get the gpu to be utilized to the max or is it someother issue. Please help.

It sounds more like you are rendering on your CPU.

Have you checked your log Help > Troubleshooting > View Log file

The GTX 970 is a 4GB card. In practice, it doesn't have enough VRAM to render Iray with the latest versions of DS.
Not only does rendering Iray need about 4GB's of VRAM for the base load (Windows, DS, the scene and the necessary working space), all the non-RTX cards require an additional 1GB of VRAM for emulating the RTX features.

The minimum for Iray rendering currently is an RTX card with at least 8GB's of VRAM, but that's just the minimum.

Where are you checking the GPU usage? Windows Task Manager does not, by default, give useful information.
