Environment Map dial

in the iRay render settings > Environment there is a dial for environment intensity which basically controls how bright the IBL lighting is, but what does the environment map dial do? It is set at 2.0 by default, but variying it doesn't seem to do anything.

Any ideas? (unfortunately the definition is missing from the documentation)

"Environment Lighting Resolution - Controls the number of pixels used for the resolution of the polar angle. The azimuthal resolution is always twice the polar resolution. Higher resolutions result in more detail in the visible environment and sharper shadows if bright details of the environment function are small. However, baking times are increased accordingly."

No, that's a different parameter. The one I mean is just called "environment map" and has the sky image map in it. The dial is at 2.0 by default but I am wondering what the value means?

It actually also seems to control the brightness.  I don't know why there are two, no one seems to know why there are two.  There must be a reason, we just don't know what it is.

Someone did some experimenting, and they seem to be multiplicative (if I recall correctly).  So they work together, to accomplish the same goal.

I tend to stick to the Environment Intensity, myself, and leave the Environment Map slider at 2.
