Linear Point Lights and Fall Off

Hi,

I havent used Daz in about a year - and I opened an older scene I was working on - and I was trying to change the fall off on some linear point lights. There use to be a slider that allowed that - but I can't seem to find it - is fall off settings no longer an option - or is my UI messed up and Im not seeing it. Any help would be appreciated!

The parameters that you are able to select will depend on what rrender engine you have selected in the Render Settings pane.   A different set will be displayed for Iray taht the set that is displayed for 3Delight.   Iray is now the default render engne for DS, so you may need to change that to see all of the parameters that you want.

  • I have the same issue.  The first time I used a linear point light, the two parameters for Falloff Start and Falloff End were there.  I tried them out, and they worked fine.  The next time I loaded a linear point light, these two parameters had disappeared.  I've tried several times to load new linear point lights, and those two falloff parameters are just gone.  It doesn't matter if I have the IRAY render engine selected or the 3Delight engine.  Those parameters have just disappeared.

If I load a Linera Point Light with Iray selected as the render Engine, I do not see fall off, since Iray is a PBR (Physically Based Renderer) it handles falloff itself.

With the same light selected, if I go to the Render Settings pane, and select 3Delight as the render engine, the Parameters pane options change, and now with the Light selected, I can see Falloff start and Falloff end.

Make sure that 3Delight is selected in Render Settings > Engine if you want to use Falloff.
