"Forward compatibility"

Hello there,

I am still a novice to Daz 3D so I am having difficulties browsing the store. In particular these difficulties are: are products "forward compatible"? Where's the difference between, say Genesis 2 and Genesis 3? Are clothes and hair for Genesis 2 supported by Genesis 3 but not vice versa? I suspect not.

As for my understanding Genesis is the base model and Michael for example a preset of morphs. This implies in my logical mind that they are very different from the base models. In this regard it is then fair enough for me to ask whether Michael 5 assets are supported by Michael 7?

Frankly in my particular case I attempted to browse the store for assets made for Aiko 6. However when filterung for specific figures I only found Aiko 4 to be available for selection. This made me question "maybe Aiko 4 clothes are compatible with Aiko 6?"

The answer to this isn't very simple.

Mostly, no, the various generations content is not forward compatible.  But, AutoFit and various addons have made it so that it is compatible, to a greater extent.  There are problem areas and custom fittings that make better transfers but most of the time Autofit by itself or with 'tuned'/improved 'clones' or things like FitControl addon (and a few other items) do an adequate job.
