Coordinate system for parented props?

I wonder if someone can help me understand the logic of coordinate systems in DAZ Studio. If I parent an object to a part of a body of G9, apparently the transform of the object is stored as the transform relative to the origin of G9. For example, I create a torus and move it to the forearm of G9, at ~(47, 104.0), and parent to the forearm. With G9 at (0,0,0), this is the transform I get for the prop. If I move G9 prior to parenting by 20, and position the torus to (67, 104,0) before parenting, after parenting I get (47, 104, 0), the delta from G9 origin.
But I am not really parenting to G9's origin, at least nor conceptually, but to the forearm. I would expect that the coordinate system of the preanted object gets adjusted to express the offset from the origin of the element I parent to, in this case the forearm bone location, and aligned with the bone rotation. That would make it much easier to adjust the parented object. What is the benefit of the way that DAZ Studio implements? It seems counterintuitive.
To make props easier to handle:
Is there a way to either:
- Reset the transform when parenting to be relative to the parent coordinates? That is, make the coordinates relative to the bone origin?
- Is there a way to parent to an object and have the parented object move to the bone I am parenting to, and align itself? That would make positioning of props much easier.
- How can I create extra sliders that introduce relative transforms from the parenting position? I have seen some products that do that, but I am not sure how to go about it.

I don't see any difference in the parented item's coordinates if I move Genesis 9, with Parent In Place on.

When parenting, unclick the "Parent in Place" checkbox (at least, I think that's what you mean). Though "align" is dubious!
