Selecting faces with an actual SELECTION tool

I'm trying to rig an imported object, and to do that, I need to make a bunch of face selections, and painting them with a circle is just TERRIBLE if you want clean, straight lines that follow the faces of the model, and get in all the nooks and crannies. Is there a way to select faces by dragging a simple box around them like a sane person?
OR: Is there some other application I can do this in? I am finding it near impossible to believe that people who create rigged products for Daz Studio on a regular basis suffer through face selection like this.

Are you selecting polygon faces in Daz Studio with the Geometry Editor tool? if so, you can right click in the viewport and select Marquee selection mode instead of the default Drag. Marquee will let you draw a box, as you requested.

The D-Former is a cool tool that I did not know existed, thanks!
That's Thanks for posting
(making dents in sofas/beds etc... I do with Meshgrabber, but this is v handy and might sometimes give better results)
The video that goes with it... Or the otherway around?!... Is here (and not free): https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-training-intermediate-02--tweaking-the-geometry
(there's 3 intermediate and at least 1 advanced <-- who knew!)
