Indoor Scenes with Windows

I stopped using 3d stuff 4 years ago, but now I'm back. I was using Poser 2012 when I quit, but am now using Daz for the clothes fitting and the G3 characters. I'm having a problem with indoor scenes that have windows. Unless a background prop is included, it renders the empty Daz room outside the windows. Are there any cheap or free resources for background images or planes that can be imported? With Poser, I used to use their "Cloth Plane" which could be textured with a jpg of a skyline or something, dropped in and scaled.

What can be placed in these renders for backgrounds in scenes with windows?

You can use a Plane primitive in DAZ Studio (Create > Primitive > Plane) select it, go to the Surfaces pane and apply an image file to it's surface in the Diffuse channel.

You should be able to find plenty of free images to do what you want.   You could also apply a Background by going to Window > Panes (Tabs) > Environment and adding a Backdrop.

  • I inserted a plane, but I don't see how to apply an image to it. Could you walk me through that, please?

Select the plane.  Then flip to the Surfaces tab...find Diffuse Color.  On the far left of the color bar is a down arrow.  Click that.  It will bring up a box with various options, one of which is Browse.  Click it...then browse to where you have the image file saved.
