Roll Back?

Could someone please tell me how to roll DS back to the previous version?
It was working great before the latest update, even though it was a beta - very stabil.
Now that I have the latest version it does nothing but crash.

My mistake. The icon says it is a beta. I thought when I updated it said it was a user release.
It is version 4.22.1.58
You can roll back if YOU saved a backup of the previous version installers and corresponding plugins. Daz doesn't make older versions available, and nobody else may legally give them to you. It will probably be far easier to resolve your crashing problem.
At the time of the crash I wasn't doing anything.
I had two G9 characters loaded and Linday's swimming pool. I left the room for a few minutes and when I came back she was crashed.
BUT, one of the G9 figures did have the hair that came with Victory 9 applied. I think that's an OOT product. Not sure.
I have to figure out how to shut off beta downloads. First time I have a this kind of issue.
Thanks Barbult.
BTW ... I LOVE your Hyacinth Macaw icon.
Years ago the owner of a pet store here in NH had one that he allowed to roam the store. While there the bird wanted to step-up on me. So, I allowed him on my arm and he slowly worked his way up to my shoulder. I was super nervous because I am not used to such large parrots with such huge beaks. But, he was real good and slowly put his head down for scritches. I slowly reached up and started scritching his neck and believe it or not, he started make a noise like a cat purring! LOL.
I said to him, "Oh. You like that?"
He immeadiately exclaimed, "I LIKE IT!"
I will never forget that experience.
Thanks for your reply and attempt to help.
What a lovely story about the macaw! That would be an unforgettable experience.
Are you using DIM to download your products? If so, you can uncheck the Public Build (Beta) channel in the Download Filters.
You originally said it would do "nothing but crash". Do you have any other examples of it crashing, other than when you walked away and came back to the crashed system? Were you in Iray preview or rendering when you walked away? Do you have a repeatable scenario that always crashes?
Yes. I do use the DIM. Thanks for the tip.
I have used DS for many years but, unfortunately, I don't get to use it enough to become anything close to an expert. :-)
Sorry for the misleading information. It crashes while building a scene. Three times now since the DS update.
I think I may have been using the Nvidia preview screen during at least one crash. I could try to get device manager to look for a newer driver I think.
I do like OOT hair products and use them often so, perhaps I was using them in the three scenes that havecrashed on me since the update.
I don't know how to update a product unlessit is pushed to me by the DIM. Would I need to uninstall the OOT hair and then reinstall?
You may take a look at the steps of updating OOT hair blending shader that I showed in this thread - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/8427911/#Comment_8427911 See if they're gonna work for you.
Do not use the Device Manager to update your drivers, those may not be up-to-date, or even compatible
This is the one place to get Nvidia drivers for DS and Iray
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
I regularly get updates directly from Nvidia. Got one about a week or so ago.
I had device manager look for a new driver prior to PetiA's reply and as usual, it said I have the most up to date driver anyway. Likely because Nvidia pushes them out to me anyway as noted above.
Thanks for the link Crosswind. I'll check it out.
Now that you are aware of the OOT hair bug with 4,22 Iray, build your scene without hair, and see if everything goes well. If it renders OK, you can be pretty confident that the OOT hair is the issue that needs to be focused on.
Exactly what I was thinking Barbult.
Thanks.
Okay so, I rebuilt the same scene that I last had going when DS crashed - same characters, same environment and same props. The only thing I left out was hair. I tried the Nvidia preview first and got no crashes. Next I did an actual render and still no crashes.
So, it has to be the hair that is causing it. I hope we see some updates soon!
The updates have already been (months ago) posted to DIM. What specific hair product causes you a problem? Maybe not all were updated. The problem is in a shared file, so if you installed a product that was not updated last, the bad file would overwrite the good file. We need to get more specific about your problem.
Meanwhile, as a last resort, all you have to do is turn off Iray preview, load the hair, select the hair in Scene pane, go to Surfaces pane and search for Transmitted Color. If there is an image in the little square icon box for Transmitted Color, click on it and remove it. Then your hair should work fine in that scene. This workaround is discussed over and over in forum threads, and yet people don't seem to pay any attention to it. That's a mystery. Crosswind even posted a link in this thread to a mention of it.
Okay. Now I am completely stumped. I now have everything back in the scene - inlcuding the OOT Curly Top Updo hair and the Lilflame Echo Hair - and I have not had a crash.
The only thing I have not done is pose the characters.
I don't understand what is going on.
Are you rendering or in Iray Preview now? The crash won't happen otherwise.
Yes. Iray preview and even a full render and no crashes. I don't get it. I haven't changed anything.
OOT Curly Top Updo hair is fairly new (as OOT hairs go). I own it and have not had any problem with it. There must have been other things going on that caused your crashes. Perhap you were running out of memory or something. At this point, just be glad that things seem OK, and keep an eye on things going forward.
The OOT Hairblending shader DSF files in OOT Curly Top Updo are the very fixed ones... If you installed this hair product recently, there would be no crash ever related to OOT hair products...
Thanks to you all for your help.
If things change again or I figure out what was happening, I will reply to this thread.
