Multiple Instances of Daz Studio Running

A couple of years ago, I was able to run two instances of Daz Studio at the same time. At some point, I was not able to use Daz Studio at all. Even with Daz3D support, I could not get it to run again untill I got a new machine. I don't know that it had anything to do with it, but I am afraid to try it now. Does anybody have recent experience with running multiple instances of the program simultaneously?

I have been using this script for a while, very grateful to Daz for making this available for those that work in multiple instances.

This is the only way I run DAZ.  Of course I'm not always running more than 1 instance at once but I frequently do when rendering; I render or dForce in one instance and edit in another.  This does work on the same scene; DAZ does not refer to the file on disk except for loading and then saving.

There are a number of problems; certain settings are saved in the "instance" and never reloaded so you are stuck with the settings from the non-instance profile.  I tweak the non-instance profile then live with the fact that DAZ sticks with the scene load/save directories from there (so I can't change them without going back to the base profile).  There are a few other runtime UI related settings that don't persist across instances even though they persist if you don't use them.

There is some possible problem with the temporary directory, or something like that, which causes a warning for the Genesis8 female base not to be found on load (apparently harmless) and, I guess, probably for other bases (haven't seen it for G9 yet).  This might be related to running DIM at the same time as DS or it might just be a general bug (but I haven't seen it reported yet).

Apart from those issues it works just fine and is way better than having to stop editing to check what is going to happen on render.

Instances  do have options for settings - starting clean, using their own saved settings, or copying settings from another instance. The script offers to set this up for you.
