Question and suggestion about the FPE Faceless products

https://www.daz3d.com/fpe-faceless-for-genesis-8-and-81 as well as https://www.daz3d.com/fpe-faceless-for-genesis-9

Does the product include a script to copy character materials into the face geograft? Similar script is a feature that has been standard of Daz anatomical element products on other sites. I don't see it on the product description.

If not then the product is interesting but not as useful as it could be. More often than not I and many others I presumed want a featureless face that is flesh. There have been free morphs generously provided by forum members in the past but they all have shortcomings. Removing just the eyes and nose does not make the face featureless and there are always residual morph that looks obvious that we were squeezing vertices. There is also the noface morph but unfortuntely it changes the entire head and does not remove the facial features. But the biggest problem of using morph is that the user still needs to manually replace the facial features in the character's texture files.

Shadowy characters with LIE features are nice but G8 or G9 characters without their faces would be scarrier.

These iteration of Faceless were not intended to be used as you suggest. That said, we are working on a semi faceless (only get rid of the mouth or only get rid of the eyes) and we are planning to tie it up with our FPE Toon Textures for G9, so the user can have a Faceless character with human skin.

Adding in that I'd love something like that. I'm unsure if you meant something in addition to FPE Toon Textures for G9, or included in that. As far as I can tell by the storepage for that item, it doesn't come with anything like that.

Why doesn't it say that in the product description? It seems obvious that a "faceless" product would do normal skin with no face.

And I'm completely uninterested in toon anything. Is there any way to make the faceless object take normal skin assets?

    Money wasted again.

Those products work by applying textures that are already present on the underlying geometry. The textures underneath a featureless face would have facial features, so obviously that's not as straightforward a solution as for other products.

There must be some way to remove those textures.

Only by making a skin texture thst matches the others without the facial details, something best done manually

Assuming that the geograft matches the face UV, you could use the body texture and blend at the edges with the face texture to avoid seams.

Faceless geo-graft has totally different UV from G9's head. No script can make it.... One way is to convert texture maps remade for "faceless" based on existing Head maps... first of all.

For instance, you may convert texture maps with UV projection from G9's Head to Faceless graft in Blender.

  • I've never used Blender.

I ended up just using GIMP to recolor the default white face. Thankfully, I only was doing a single faceless render.
