Converting Lights?

in New Users
I know how to get the lighting to work well with my renders when creating a scene from scratch, but what about older preloads such as the "Medieval Tavern"? Nothing I've tried gets the pre-existing lights to show up in Iray, no matter how much I increase the intesity, temperature, luminous flux, etc. Just darkness. I'd much rather use those and save time as opposed to replacing all forty something of them. They're all indoor lights, so nothing should be blocking them, and I applied the Iray Uber Base to everything in my scene. Am I missing something here, or am I just SOL? I'm still rather new at this so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The 'usual suspects' of lighting in DS (points, etc.) need to have the 'photometric' setting on to show up in Iray. The environemt (on the render settings) also may need to be set to something that will 'honour' those lights (I am not sure off the top of my head whatm exactly, each of them do!). You could, also, use the Iray equivalent of UberAre lighting on any surface (such as candle flames) to set them to be light ermitting (and like UA lights a bit of fiddling will be needed to get teh right levels of illumination).
I did have the photometric setting "on" and the environment was set to "Scene Only." I'll try out the UberAre Lighting you suggested later on and see if that works. Thanks for the reply!
Lights are automaticaly converted when you choose the render engine to render with. Don't forget Iray is a "Photoreal" render engine and therefore Tone Mapping is key to get realistic Photo results http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/95829 just the same as real world photographers. For me I set the lights up as real world lumens output and then adjust tome mapping to suit the scene.
UberArea shader lights only work with 3Delight
