How do I get Iray preview mode to work faster?
After lots of consideration, I realized that the main thing hindering my enjoyment of DAZ 3D is actually the Iray preview mode. It takes anywhere from 2 minutes to 3.5 minutes for Iray to show me a good, well-detailed image of what I'm about to render (a few G8 models and a house in 4k). And I'm wondering if there's a way to make the process faster.
My GPU: 3080Ti
DAZ3d version: 4.15
CPU: i5 10400
RAM: 32 GB
And I'm using 4k as Iray or daz3d resolution.
My questions.
1. Will buying a better GPU, like a 4080 Super, in the near future speed up Iray preview mode for me?
2. Does updating DazStuio to the latest version improve the speed of Iray mode?
3. Or is this the way Daz3d and Iray always were?
4. I'm not sure buying more RAM, A SSD, or a better CPU will have any effect regarding this, so I won't even ask about that.
Thank you for any assistance.

It mostly depends on what you have in the scene and their settings.. pls first check them accordingly ~~ To me, 2 ~ 3.5 mins' "pre-preview time" with a 3080Ti is much longer than expectation, normally.
Hello. I don't know what your needs are in preview and rendering, but if you don't have Render Throttle for Iray (https://www.daz3d.com/render-throttle-for-iray), it may be helpful. My system is much more modest than your. I bought Render Throttle for Iray in July; later in the year posted about it in two other forum threads.

Although it still sounds too tight, 12GB is 12,288 MB (the powers are 1,024 rather than 1,000)
Oh, that explains it.
Anyway, I'm wondering if Daz3d's latest version is any faster than my current Daz version 4.15 when it comes to the Iray preview. Any idea, perhaps?
Thanks.
Is render throttle and Iray camera view optimizer two different products or one package?
In any case thanks jjoyner this potentially might be the exact thing I was looking for.
They are two different products. I bought Render Throttle for Iray (https://www.daz3d.com/render-throttle-for-iray) in July for the crazy ridiculous sale price of $3.99. It’s currently on sale at 50% off for $12.98. I bought Camera View Optimizer (https://www.daz3d.com/camera-view-optimizer) in October for $13.72. It’s currently on sale at 50% off for $12.98 also.
I’m a hobbyist with this stuff but I used Render Throttle often and Camera View Optimizer a little less often – but it all depends on what I want to load into a scene.
4.15 is faster at both previewing and rendering, but I would still recommend upgrading for the faster load times. Some temporary adjustments to your render settings can help while working preview mode though. You might try disabling anything you don't need in preview and keep the active viewport resolution <= 720p until you are ready to render. Also, certain hair, high resolution textures and complex lighting will all slow down your preview times (and final renders). A faster GPUs will undoubtedly improve your preview time. Mine is fairly quick.
The thing that sold me on Render Throttle for Iray was the fact that it has three presets for temporarily adjusting draw settings to improve the responsiveness of the Iray Preview window (Low, Medium, and High), three presets for temporarily adjusting render settings for the depth of an Iray render (Low, Medium, and High), and one preset to return the draw settings and render settings back to their original settings in a scene. With Render Throttle for Iray, I don’t have to dive into the details of draw settings or render settings to change manually to improve the responsiveness of the Iray preview window or Iray render. As a hobbyist, that’s a welcome relief. I watched the six-minute video by the vendor on the product page to understand what the product does.
