The "New Scene" Pop Up is really shady and doing an end-run around my firewall

I don't like change, it ticks me off, first to admit that. I wanted the new version of DS for the optimization aspects, so I saved my old layouts and everything, then booted the new version up... Cool, faster run times!

Imagine my shock when I go to open a new scene and am instead greeted by a pop up for the store when I literally just want to open a new scene. I don't let programs that don't need the internet access the internet because I'm on a metered connection, so I set up some custom firewall rules for DS to block it from the internet.

And yet somehow, DazStudio's still accessing the internet to download thumbnails for the store over my metered internet connection.

I don't want to shop while I'm trying to work in DS. I don't want to see thumbnails for new products, I actually open this thing called a "browser" and go to the webpage and view them from there. I don't appreciate it using my limited data for something unwanted, and I don't trust that it's able to get around my firewall despite me having the program blocked.

I really don't understand why we're getting more bloated features people didn't ask for when the program still isn't optimized, but it definitely makes me want to consider giving Blender another shot and polishing up my modeling skills again rather than spending the money to save time.
