Only hand w rigged bones etc. etc.
in New Users
Dearest,
I am trying to , let's say, delete all of a figures body (genesis , 123, whatever) so that only a hand (fully functional) is left . I tried unparenting and deleting sections but I do not succeed.
I could set all but the needed hand as 'not visible' but that is not what I want.
Any tips/suggestions out there?
Many thanks in advance
cheers
Peter

Export out the figure as .obj file. Import that into modeler and delete all but the "hand".
Export out the .obj file.
In D/S, figure loaded in default, import in "hand" ... it should be landing exactly in the same position it left from.
Use the transfer utility tool to "make clothing" of the hand ... going for "actor" or somesuch ... do NOT apply smoothing. Do not "fit to" either.
Hopefully everything looks to be right, then delete the entire humoid figure and texture the hand as desired.
Save the figure: File > Save As > Support Asset > figure/prop ....
1. Load a figure
2. Switch draw style to wire shaded (ball icon left from "perspective view")
3. Go to Tools - Geometry Editor.
4. Click with right mouse button in the viewport to get a menu and go to Selection Mode - Marquee Selection
5. Click and drag a box around parts you wish to remove to select them. To add additional polygons press and hold CTRL key on the keyboard and click on the polygons. If you select to much, press and hold ALT and click on polygons to remove them from selection. If you accidently select a loop, you can use Undo function to unselect it.
Or you can select the hand you wish to keep and than click with right mouse button in the viewport to get a menu and use Geometry Selection - Invert selection.
6. After selecting geometry you wish to remove, click with right mouse button in the viewport to get a menu and use Geometry Visibility - Hide Selected Polygon(s). After polygons are hidden, click with right mouse button in the viewport to get a menu and use Geometry Editing - Delete Hidden Polygon(s).
If you wish to remove bones you no longer need, go to Tools - Joint Editor, select the bone, click with right mouse button in the viewport to get a menu and use Delete - Delete Bone
You can save your hand with File - Save As - SupportAsset - Figure/Prop Assets...
Yes , was exactly my idea in the first place but I wondered if there was a more easier/faster way. Thnks Ben
