Kid 4 Skin Colors Look Very Unnatural

Whenever I render a Kid 4 figure, the skin looks terrible. In these examples, the "before render" pic on the left shows a somewhat natural skin color. But after I render her, she's greenish. It's really distracting when she's in a scene with Gen2, Gen3, etc. charaters and she looks like a Martian ( no offense to Martians).

Anyway, is there something I can adjust in the Surfaces Pane to tweak this? I haven't learned (yet) the ins and outs of this pane and what Diffuse Color, etc. means. I did notice that it says Daz Studio Default is the Shader, whereas with the other character it says Iray Uber.

  • Are you using Iray or 3Delight to render? Look at the Engine setting at the top of the Editor tab in Render Settings.

Kids 4 are quite old now and come with, at best, fairly basic DS material settings - one trick you can try is selecting a single skin surface on one of the figures you like the look of, then File>Save as>Shader Preset. Give the preset a name and note where it is being saved, then in the options dialogue click the lined button at top-left and from the menu choose Check Only>Check All Values Only. Now use the Surface Selection Tool to select the visible skin areas of the kid figure (use ctrl-click to add to the selection) and double-click the Shader preset (or load it with File>Merge). That will apply the settings from the new figure without changing the maps - though given the limited number of maps the Kid textures include the results may still not be a match for the newer content.
