UE5.3 Migrate DAZ character to another project

Any insight why a DAZ Gen9 character cleanly imported into UE5.3 using the plugin from DAZ, cannot be smoothly migrated to another project?

I was struggling with my project thinking it was something I was doing or the complexity of the scene, but then made a generic example model set and get the same results.

It forgets all the material information and settings. Sure I could individually add them back manually, but then I also need to know all the settings the plugin is doing on import (glossiness and etc is all forgotten.)
