Daz crashing

Whenever I have tried to do a iray render or use the iray preview lately, Daz encounters a fatal error and has to close. What can I do to fix this?

Does your GPU driver meet the minimum requirement for the version of DS you are using?

  • 4.22.0.1? Out of Touch hair, or Out Of Touch Hair shader on another item? There is a known issue in the latest version of Iray with their custom shader when it has a map assigned to Transmitted Colour - many hairs have been fixed but which ones you have, the order in which they were isntalled, and how they were installed all have a bearing on whether the fixed version is the one that loads - you can check, and fix, by seelcting the hair parts in the Scene pane, selecting the hair parts in the Editor tab of the Surfaces pane, and using the filter (the text box at the top) to find transmitted colour (just type transm into the box should be enough).

If this isn't the issue then we need more details of your system, driver version used, and what is in the scenes.

So I am using the "Linda Ponytail Hair" set and this happens to me as well. I've tried updating it, deleting it and redownloading it... Still has an issue. I removed the Map in Transmitted color which stopped it from crashing. But the scenes I use this hair in now take two hours to render when they used to take 15 minutes. frown

The slow-down sounds like an older driver, are you using 526.98 or later (right-click on desktop>nVidia Control panel)?

No, my drivers are current.  Of course I just went in and redownloaded the hair and color extension again and it worked without crashing this time cool
I have it setup in queue to render overnight. So, fingers crossed.

  • I recently updatd to 4.22 and I cant do anything without it crashing. Render preview, render, and saving all cause it to crash more often than not to the point where I cant use Daz anymore. Im on a Mac M1Max, 64 gb memory, OS13. Not sure how drivers work or what I am supposed to do there. Any help appreciated. It used to crash a lot after saving projects before updating but Daz still worked well enough then on 4.21 to create a lot of renders without crashing. Very angry rn.
