Any thoughts on how to create a black hole in Daz 4.8. I could do something vortex-y in AE but then it would only be 2D and it would be great to have a 3D item.
I was going to say dial Vicky's breasts to max and let gravity have its way, but I assume you mean a visual effect. If you want a vortex I'm not sure there's much around - for 3Delight you could perhaps apply pwEffect to a set of toruses, or look to see if any of Jepe's effects packs are useful (which could work in Iray with suitable settings).
Seriously, if you could get the vortex with volumes to look like something other than hurricane with hemorrhoids, then the render times will be through the roof.
I second Jepe's effects for having an outside chance of something passable.
Not sure what you're looking for but with a mixture of Jepe's Elementz and a VERY handy vortex Prop you get with the Time Assassin Gen2Male outfit I ran some conceptual examples that may or may not show you can do what it is you are after... or something along those lines anyway...
I'm not sure what kind of black hole effect you want or what you have available for effects, however you could also consider applying a dformer to your selected object and rotating it to get whatever it is to twist slightly. For objects, try to find anything spiral-y perhaps to modify, like a galaxy from a space scene, or if there are any props of whirlpools, etc. and retexture them.

You beat me to it, I was going to say "purchase, download and install ALL the content in the store". :-)
Heh, I had forgotten untl reminded but there is sample code for a black-hole spatial deformation plug-in in the Daz Studio SDK (that's the C++ pl;ug-in SDK, not the scripting kit).
Oooo I like this, have to see if I can get it to work in Daz with iRay.
You'd probably have to do some serious jacking around with the material images (and there are several), but if you're brave enough to take a whack at it, then we'd love to see what you come up with!

Will it be animated, too?
I'll have a look this evening and see what I can do!!

Is that still available? I haven't seen it offered in years!

Okay, so the great moment of truth - I didn't spend a huge amount of time getting this thrown together but it certainly works in Daz Studio and renders in iRay, oh and its animated here: https://youtu.be/-DF0dZhVT9E
Forgive the additional flourish I added - I did learn that intro logo's I'll stick to creating in blender as the one here I chucked together this evening on Daz was..... not up to my usual intro logo standard in blender (even with the ridiculously small amount of time and effort I chucked the Ka1 together in here!!)

That is seriously cool! Well done!
Thank you, was quite pleased with the results vs the amount of time spent on it!

Postwork....

Thanks for the ideas, I'll check out Jepe's items.

In one of my animations, I needed to simulate an 'inter-dimensional nexus' (not exactly a black hole, but pretty damn close!)
I found this on ShareCG.com: http://www.sharecg.com/v/56734/browse/11/Poser/Black-Hole
Worked beautifully!
