The texture add-on can work without the need of the Base product. So you should be fine if you only have the add-on. Have you checked the read-me that goes over the instructions? You should be able to launch the manual via the MBBA !ReadMe script. You can also access the PDF directly through your runtime/Textures/FenixPhoenix/Body Burns G8M AddOn.

But basically, the process is shown in this promo:

    1. Load your character.
    2. Apply a Geoshell AddOn Preset. If your characters is a Genesis 8.1 male, then apply the 8.1 Geoshell.
    3. Apply a Material to the Geoshell.
    4. Apply one or more LIE Mask(s) or Softer LIE Mask(s) to the Geoshell.
    5. That's it!

You'll have an easier time navigating the product via the Content Library. You should find it under People > Genesis 8 Male > Materials > FenixPhoenix > Body Burns Texture Add-On  as the presets are organized in steps via folders.

  • I recently bought body burns for male and female....and it looks great in Daz, but shells dont export well, so im having incredible issues with it i just want the textures to be applied to the character,..
secondly, When trying to render with iray, Daz freezes up, turns white and does nothing and after 40 min, i get an error "render failed" or something like that.... if i try again it then says "renderer is in use" but nothing is happening...

The pictures i've provided are a screenshot of Daz and blender

Geoshells don't generally export well. Since the burns use a proprietary UV map, you're best off Map Transferring them to G8/8.1 UV then layering them in Blender.

Hi @majesticcreations, thank you for the support!

As @Gordig has mentioned, Body Burns uses a custom UV Map that ensures the surfaces have an even density, allowing more detail without creating seams. The resulting maps are 8K since they cover the entire body. As such, you will need to transfer those maps into Genesis 8 or 8.1 UVs and then manually layer things in DAZ Studio using the Layered Image Editor and then grab the baked images and save them somewhere or layering them in a 2D Editor of your choice. Here's a great video that goes over how to use the map Transfer within DAZ Studio:

As to your DAZ Studio being unable to render, that isn't product-specific AFAIK. There is a thread about it here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/50434/unable-to-render-renderer-is-already-in-use

If your system still struggles with rendering the Burns in DAZ, try lowering the SubD of the character down to 3. If you lower it further, you might as well dial out the HD Burn Morphs (because they do require SubD3 or 4 to show at all) and just use the textures; you can try playing with the displacement settings instead to get more of a texture.

  • Please put some clothes on the figure if you need to show it textured, or just zoom in closer (or crop you images).
