DS 4.22 Thumbnails No Longer Update
Hi, I checked and don't see this issue mentioned previously.
Basically, since DS 4.22 launched, thumbnails for Scenes, Scene Subsets, or any other type of file overwritten within DS no longer show the thumbnail as having updated (within Content Library). It still shows the old thumbnail for whatever file type saved from 4.21.
Checking Windows Explorer, the correct thumbnails generally display correctly. I noticed that new files no longer create a ".duf" PNG file, but a ".tip" PNG file. Is .tip the new thumbnail file? If so, should I start deleting the ".duf" PNG file (confusing I know - naming the PNG file as a .duf within the filename).
Seeing if anyone else has noticed this issue. And if you guys have found a workaround. Cheers.

.tip file is a larger image you can see when your put your mouse cursor on the thumbnail, not the thumbnail picture.

mine has always done that really. I have to right click on the runtime root directory in the daz content explorer, and hit refresh before it shows the new version.
Thanks. Yeah, a refresh doesn't update the thumbnails for me. Not sure what the issue is.
Thanks Richard - I've checked my Preferences and it looks like all the Thumbnail settings are correct. I've reapplied them and will see if this fixes the issue for me. I didn't even know this sort of customization for overwriting Thumbnails existed, so thanks again for that!
Hi Richard, yeah it seems that even after reapplying my intended settings (always overwrite both duf and tip thumbnails), only the tip is updating. See attached.
Just wanted to let you know.
*** Update - the tip and duf thumbnails update only for Scenes. Not for Scene Subsets or any of the Presets (Materials, Poses, etc). ***
Yes, a bug there. Issue submitted 8 days ago...hope it's being fixed...
Thanks! Were you the one to submit the ticket? If it's been 8 days, they should've at least hit you up with an update by now . . .
Yes, I was. Another file naming bug I sent was fixed in 2 days then an updated version was released. But for this bug... I have no idea about the progress...
BTW, I've been notified by no one from CS team no matter the bug was fixed or not... I had to check the change log, in silence...
Edit: Oh..my, my bad bad memory, I sent the request for PB version 17 days ago!!! Up to the date when PB was released to GR 4.22.0.1 on Oct. 31st, the bug had not been fixed... I wonder if there was a solid KPI that GR must be released on that day ?

Me too.
It's kinda annoying but if you delete the image files from your folder in Explorer you can create new ones until the bug is fixed in a year.
Yes, there's no issue for creating new other than overwriting...
Good tip. Yeah, pretty annoying tho. Hopefully Daz fixes this pretty glaring issue sooner than a year out!
Have had the same issue. Glad to see it being discussed more thoroughly.
On the .Tip thing it would be a nice extra if DAZ Studio rendered out one along with the generated icon. I know tip files are generally 300X300 so I would assume it would take a moment longer but might come in handy and speed up product creation.

this same situation started for me with the latest Studio update 4.22.01
Studio used to save a .duf.png file every time I saved a scene
I didn't change any settings after the update, but now it creates a .tip.png file instead of a .duf.png files, but not every time
i can update a scene and save it and i see the old .tip.png file in the directory with no revisions to match the scene.
so i went to preferences...
it was indeed set to Always save/replace tip images
so not sure why it doesn't function as intended.
in the meantime, i set it to Do not save tip images and lo and behold, it went back to creating the .duf.png files again, which is what i prefer.
This is fixed in a futuer build, according to http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log#4_22_1_12
Awesome! Thanks, Richard!
It's Not Fixed At All.
In which version? The General reelase has not been updated since that post, the Public Build (beta) has and should have the fix as far as I can see.
