Integrated Graphics useful ?

I'm gonna build pc for daz3d with rtx 3060 12gb but I am confused between two processors 12400 or 12400F ... if I use 12400 integrated graphics for only display then can i use rtx 3060 full vram (12gb) or is it ok with 12400f (use rtx 3060 for display) ? I don't know how much vram windows 10 reserve from rtx 3060 12gb ?

  • It should free up a bit more memory, but be aware that inegrated GPUs have in the past failed to provide an adequate level of OpenGL support for DS - and I have seen, when giving tech support to family members, some pretty weird behaviour from them in even in less demanding applications.

Agree with Richard, I would never use a processor with integrated graphics for the reasons he mentions.

The cpu with integrated graphics will allow you to use intel quick sync, google it to see if that looks useful for what you do.

It also gives you an option for troubleshooting if you can't get a signal from the gpu due to pcie incompatability, gpu bios issues or a dead card if you don't have a spare.

You can disable it if not in use. You can have it enabled and not connected to a display.

I've never had an issue with one but I don't use them for display out. I have used them for troubleshooting.

If you don't have a use for one just get the cheaper cpu, it isn't always the f model, depends on deals and bundles.

  • Thanks ... So I'll go with 12400F
  • 11400F with 6c 12t or 12100F 4c 8t which is better for daz3d (not rendering... for viewport only)

Skimming some reviews I'd lean towards the 12100. They're close but the 12100 is a little faster single core and a little slower multi core. The 12100 also uses slightly less power, has a newer design of cooler and has more upgrade options if you decide to swap it later.

I've an MUX switch, so can use just the GPU, just the CPU or both.

In Daz, when I use both there's a 10% render-time improvement over using just the GPU.

  • it messes up Stable Diffision Automatic 1111 Webui installation if that's a consideration

I can no longer use it on my PC because it installs the wrong pytorch and cannot use my Nvidia CUDA

I cannot find a way to fix the command argument to install the right one either because I have no idea what I am doing in notepad and neither does Bing Chat cheeky none of the GitHub or Stack Overlow Google results helped either

    my 3D programs work great

when Nvidia messed up Dforce with one driver a while back I was glad I had an iGPU that still worked

I recently installed that without issue. Except for the horror show images it outputs.

Try turning the igpu off in your bios settings. Mine is off unless I need it.
