Issues with Lou's Zeeba

Recently I had a friend who had purchased this product and who also recently started having issues with his Genesis 9 base - when bending the thighs up into sitting position the area between the hip bone and the thigh distorted badly. He asked me for help with it. Initially I assumed this was simply him turning off his base JCM parameter (something that happens if you zero out the entire figure) - but upon examining his figure files I found that the Zeeba character installs its own JCM bend morphs for the thighs that are not pinned to the character's body morph (FBM). In a nut shell, the Zeeba JCM was turning on when you bend the legs and was distorting the existing JCM on the hips. I recommended he remove the DATA files for Zeeba - and this fixed the problem with the Genesis 9. I'm not sure who should be aware of this. I have reported bugs in the past and not had much success with DAZ Support. So hopefully someone will pass this matter on to Lou or DAZ. I double-checked the DATA file installation and they were all in the proper file and location. But this needs to be fixed as the Zeeba JCM bends for the thighs are distorting constantly and not just when Zeeba's FBM is turned on. To be blunt, it messes G9 all up in the hips and thighs during posing unless you're using the Zeeba body.

The issue seems to be having fixed in July. Just update the product, see if the issue is gone or not.

In addition to deleting the dsf files, if you know some sculpting software (Blender, ZB...), you may fix the character's pJCMs or cbs by yourself, then overwrite the ones made by authors.

I made this post only to report a serious issue with Genesis 9 as a courtesy to DAZ and Lou. The only solution to the issue that is viable is to delete the Zeeba DATA files. That fixes the issue and puts G9 back to base form and function. I have advised my friend of the updated version of the file so he can download it anew if he wants to. He was unaware of any issues with Zeeba or updates before this. If the issue is fixed, that's great. But a lot of customers may not even know they have issues related to Zeeba. My friend has been struggling with this leg problem for some time before asking me for help. He had no idea it was even related to Zeeba because the JCM's in question were hidden.

Replacement or overwriting of any of G9's base files (Data) is not something the typical DS user is capable of doing. That's something more in line with content creators. I would not advise telling people to overwrite JCM's or any of a figure's data files. Should they overwrite a base file, they could potentially injure the figure's function (much like this Zeeba JCM did)--leaving the figure with broken joints or distortions and since DS refers back to the base files for all saved scenes, damaging the base files can mess up every version of G9 you have saved. That's just not something I would not advise. When you have a troublesome add-on like this - you delete it. Clean and simple just as I had my friend do with his - and it fixed everything for him.

Again, my post was only a courtesy to DAZ and Lou. Nothing else.

  • If you want to report issues to Daz it needs to be done via a ticket - the forum team may try to help, but we don't have access to all content.

If people install through one of the Daz install methods (Central, Install Manager, Connect) or even use Install Manager as a downloader followed by manual installation then they should get notification of updates.
