hi guys,

i have to do a quick comic for my school. So i thought i make some szenes with daz3d but my resulutions are really bad. It is a bit pixelate the black areas are really bad. And i dont know why. I have an atachfile where you can see what i mean ( it isnt a test shoot from my story because i need a lot of time to render it) warning it shows nudity it was a light and shader test picture but there you can see what i mean.

I have removed the image as we don't allow nudity. A crop showing just the upper body and head would have been OK.

Is this Daz Studio? What were your render settings? Which character/figure were you using, and what lighting?

daz3d 4.8, g2f and with iray (szene only, dome and szene, sun light). I have with all the lights the same problem with the pixelation. (render settings are in atachment)

  • Do you have a scene file (.duf) you can upload?

  • I should have asked which content you were using - unfortunately I don't have the Dungeon Holding set. If you list the items used in your scene others who have the required content can try it.

However, your only scene light is a point light (linear point lights are just point lights for Iray) and it is outside the bounding box for the dungeon, I assume, from looking at the promo images for the set, above the opening in the ceiling but there's a lot of geometry there to cast partial shadows so you are not going to get much light from that or from the environment map, even when you have Dome on in Environment.

  • I'm not seeing the kind of artefacts that were in your image, admittedly having turned the exposure settings way up to be able to get a clear view of them. You do appear to have quiote a lot of shine on your skin settings, which can cause issues..

I did a full render of your scene and the only issue I see is the noisy shadows on the figure. I didn't have the clothes or hair so added a dress of my own, the rst is as you set it up.

The forum software is doing something to the images as there is blocking in the posted image that isn't showing on the image on my hard drive. I noticed that on a previous image I put up but, as it was a test image, I din't think anything of it. If the forum is compressing perfectly good images until they look that bad then it really isn't worth while posting them.

I resampled the image in Irfanview to compress it without the blocking to see what the Forum Software does.

  • oh wow thats a lot of shine did u do something with the skin because when i render it looks bit different. And yes the noise is what i hate but it is in all my pictures and in darker areas is alot of these noise. i will do a render of the same scene but i need some time :D

I didn't touch any settings except putting the tunic on her as she was rendering naked smiley

The noise in the shadows is a recurring theme and can only be resolved by adding some ambient light so that nothing is completely black.

I let the render run to the end and it took three and a half hours approx.
