how green screen back ground

I there a way to green the background?   Render time is crazy long-    Be much faster if it was  just the characters that I could over lay on a photo of the background...

OOps.....think I found it!

The default for Iray is to have a transparent background, so if you have no scenery or backdrop you should get just the character and a shadow if you have the ground on. You can then add that layer to a background photo in your photo editing software of choice.
