Issue with Textures in Iray Preview mode

Hi there,

I am experiencing unusual texture artifacts on my characters after updating my graphics card driver to the Game Ready Driver version 536.99 for my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. The artifacts are most visible in the hair region, but they can also be seen in other places, such as pelvic anatomical areas. Additionally, the scene appears slightly overexposed or as if there is a layer of fog obscuring the details.

Here are my system specifications:

  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
  • Driver Version: Game Ready Driver 536.99
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Professional, Version 22H2
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 4.2 GHz
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4, 3200 MHz
  • Daz3D Version: 4.21.0.5

I have tried the following steps to resolve the issue:

  • Restarting my computer
  • Uninstalling, reinstalling and downgrade the graphics card driver
  • Updating Daz3D to the latest version

However, the issue persists.

I am also experiencing unexpected crashes with the beta version of the program where those artifacts don't happen.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a solution I can try?

Thank you, Dan

  • Generally speaking, AFAIK, the Study Drivers are recommended for use with Daz Studio, not the game drivers.

There are gamers who keep the installer of each to switch them out when running their games.

Better post one or two screeshots so that we may help to find some clues... But first, suggest use Studio driver rather than Game Ready driver for rendering with DS.

I appreciate your input, @Catherine3678ab. Unfortunately, I've performed clean installations of the latest 3 versions of both the driver and studio for both regular and gaming setups, and I'm still encountering the same issue. However, this problem doesn't seem to occur in the beta version of the application. Nonetheless, the beta version isn't very stable as it tends to unexpectedly close quite often.

My guess is the setting on render settings pane > optimization > Instacing Optimization
Change the value either to memory or speed.

Finally I was able to upload the picture. Thanks for any advice

For the best performance out of the GPU and Iray, you need to be running the Studio driver. The Game Ready drivers are optimized for use in games whereas the Studio drivers are optimized for Graphic design type applications. Here is a bit of info from Nvidia about the two. There are still arguments over which is better but Daz suggests to run the Studio driver with their software.

Thanks for the info, I've uninstalled everything from Daz and Nvidia and installed again Studio drivers and the problem is still there

Does it only occour in Iray preview, or also in an actual render?

Do the problem also occour if you render a character out of the box, i.e. without geoshells or other modifications, but with hair and cloths?

  • Isn't there an issue with the latest drivers and making things green, or has that been fixed by Nvidia yet? If so wasn't the fix for that to disable the post denoiser alpha in render filter settings?

To my knowledge it hasn't been fixed. But it will only acitivate if you have post denoiser alpha on. And it makes the image greenish, not just some bleedings.

That looks like the Skullcap for the hair showing through and the shorts are poking into the skin so might be a Translucency problem.

Do you have your Iray Preview set for Interactive or Photoreal? Try Photoreal. The setting is in the Draw Settings pane in the Drawing section. It might help.
