I am unsure if the things I want to purchase are compatible with each other. Poses, Clothing, Models. Some say that they are compatible with Gen 2 M/F and others list a certain Model name (i.e. Michael 4) but I'm not sure if that's Gen 2 or 1 or 78. I don't want to spend money on things that I won't be able to use. So can someone give me an idea of how this works before I crack open my wallet? Thanks so much.

    it's pretty easy to look at it like this, anything ending in a 3 (V3, M3, etc.) is Generation 3

    those ending in 4 (M4, S4, etc.) are generation 4

    genesis is actually generation 5 (M5, V5)

    genesis 2 is generation 6

    genesis 3 is now generation 7

    So Victoria 7 is a genesis 3 model

    Michael 6 is a genesis 2 model

    etc etc.

    I only mention this because when I first started and was pointed to the compatability matrix, I was still a bit lost.

    Thank all of you for your comments and help. I'm still a little fuzzy though. Am I understanding this right? When shopping, make sure that the items I'm buying fit the Genesis Model I am using? Don't buy a Genesis 3 outfit or pose set for a Genesis 2 and vice versa? I guess it's the Generation vs Genesis that is making this murky for me. For instance, I have an animation I want to buy but it's just for an M4. So I'm trying to follow the pattern above (which helped!) and what I came up with doesn't make sense. I tried using the Matrix to just shop that way but not every item is listed.

    If        Generation 7=Genesis 3

              Generation6=Genesis 2

              Generation5=Genesis ......does that mean...

               Generation4=Genesis -1

              Generation3=Genesis -2?  Where do Generations 3-4 fall in the Genesis hirearchy?

    I'm sorry if I am getting NOOB all over your screen. It should wipe off.

    Generations 1-4 were stand alone figures, older technology before Genesis came on the scene. So they were Pre Genesis and have no connection to the Genesis technology.

    Genesis began with generation 5.

    THe Compatibility Matrix that I linked to shows where things from the older generations can be compatible (to a lesser or geater extent, depending on the generation) to the Newer generations.

               Generation4=Genesis -1

              Generation3=Genesis -2?

    Genesis did not exist when Generation 3 and 4 were released.

    And then there was light!

    Thank you all so much. I have my arms around it now. That Matrix is going to come in handy. Thanks for the hand holding. I guess I didn't understand what I was looking at at first but I get it now. And I understand the Generations too.

    http://www.daz3d.com/seifuku-for-genesis-2-female-s

    Artist:

    Daz Originals Bobbie25 Sarsa

    Compatible Figures: Genesis 2 Female

    Compatible Software: DSON Importer for Poser, DAZ Studio 4.8

    When looking at a product, we get something like the above.

    You know it should work without issues on G2F (Genesis 2 Female), and it will likely work on G3F, but one is always welcome to ask in the forums, and it might need purchasable morphs to work best with G3F. Getting it to work with earlier figures, will likely be more of a problem, if it is possible at all.

    I would start very slowly and focus your purchases on items built specifically for the figure you want to work with. Eventually, youll figure out how to use tools, morphs, etc, and start to experiment with using items and figures that were not originally intended for each other.
