I am trying to use lighting in my scene but that isn't working

Hey I am trying to setup my scene but lighting is not woking i checked all the options that I could think of but I am unable to find the solution. When I used scene only in render settings this was my output without adding any light but when I added lighting everything is just black.

Other thing is I have done the settings before but I might have distubed them in my recent work. Now I just cand remember that. Even I had to add environment node , tone mapper and filliament node too. What do I do? Also these lights dosent make even shadows too and I have added a plane surface to work as infinty cove like a photoshoot.

That image shows a figure against a pink background - it's not all black so I assumed you fixed your issue?

What is black, your preview window or the render?

If preview window, Ctrl-L will change it

  • Without lights you get, by default, a "headlamp" shining from just beside th camera/viewpoint - add a light and the headlamp is switched off. You will need to adjust the tone Mapping to see thee ffect of most local (Scene) lights without pushing their luminosity to ludicrous levels.

First thing first. That image is render when I just use camera headlamp on auto mode and scene on in render settings. As sson as I add any light scene becomes black. And also it doesn't add any shadow. Now how can I do that what you told me to do.

It was correct in the preview/viewport once but in the render it was same just like the previous image.

There's an annoying problem with a recent forum update that has stopped attachments for the last few weeks!

Can you show the successful preview to see how the scene should look?

Is it the Iray preview and Iray render you're using?

Why bother with a Filament node?

Sorry but I am unable to find that render. It was iray render and I will stop using filament node for checking. Can you suggest me some settings show that I can make a render that I want?

I switch back and forth between 'Iray' and 'Texture Shaded' preview modes.

Remove or hide everything except the figure and then start putting your lights back.

Depending which Infinity Cove you are talking about, I suspect it may be blocking either the lights or the camera or both.

For the lights, I would use distant lights, spotlights (with an area) or emmisive plane primitives. I leave it in 'Dome and Scene' mode even if the dome is set to dim values.

    I will try this
