Proper hair color doesn't show until scene is rendered

Bought the Purdey hair for Genesis 9 female. When I change its color, while using Nvidia preview, nothing happens and the hair stays dark black. New color only appears when the scene is rendered. I have this same problem with other hair sets also when using genesis 8 and 8.1 but it only occurs with certain hair sets. There is a hair cap and separate hair in scene list, I've tried choosing just one and both of them nothing solves the problem. Is this just the way these particular hair sets are made? Am I doing something wrong when I load the hair? Or is there some surfaces tab settings I need to change?

You could try spot render,uses less resources and is faster.
As for now showing, there are some products that only show in a render, not preview.
It's a typical strand-based hair. If you wanna 'Nvidia Iray preview' it in Viewport , select its sub-node 'Purdey Hair', in Parameters pane, switch on 'Preview PR Hair' and set the value 'Viewport Line Tessellation Sides' > 2 at least.
