Geometry Shell Clothing Workflow?

I am thinking that I might like to try my hand at creating some clothes for G8F starting with a Geometry Shell. Nothing complicated - just a second-skin type of thing such as shorts or tights. But I would like to add surface details and textures so I am asking if anyone has a well-used workflow they might share with us?

When I say surface details I mean trims, hems, creases and wrinkles. I am happy to try this in Blender but I'm not sure how to save out Normal Maps. I don't have ZBrush, unfortunately. For textures I guess I would need to create a UV map or perhaps I could use the UV map from the Geoshell which is the G8F UV map? Perhaps, though, I might need to define material zones for things like waistbands, trims and hems?

Any advice welcome. I have checked YouTube and there are some helpful videos but I did not find one that went through the whole workflow. I also purchased this tutorial but it is anything but a "Complete Guide": https://www.daz3d.com/second-skin--the-complete-guide-to-geoshells - it would help for make-up and surface dirt, etc., but not for my project.
