Saving as Figure/Prop Asset Problem

I have a sphere.
I saved it as Figure/Prop Asset.
But then I edit the number of polygons on blender.
Reimported it.
Saved it again using the same name.
BUT, if I clicked on the prop, it loads the previous sphere with the initial polygons number.
I have to save the prop to different name to make the decimated sphere to load.
How can I fix this? I want to use the first name.

ok, I figure it out. Somehow the filename can't be the same as the item name. I don't know why. So I use capital for the first letter of the file name and lower case for the item name.
    That fixes it.

They can be the same. "File Name" determines the file name of *.duf while "Item Name" determines the sub-folder in Product folder, and "Node Name" determines the file name of *.dsf file in Item folder...

But, if I use the same name, the problem appears.
    Don't know why.
I tried it many times with the same result.

    Update.
It seems I haven't fix the prolem.

If I load my scene again. And put back the prop that has worked before. It changes back again to the default.

This is really weird and confusing.

It supposes to be like this:

Pls try -: clear the scene 1st (Ctrl + N),  then load the sphere prop you just saved.

    Edit - : I couldn't reproduce the issue you have, as it - : https://mega.nz/file/vXQxCDQb#Y0b1IJsaligwGDz4-e22o-4R24hdAOJQ1B-eUb7YTnI

  • Try simply deleting the /data files for the old vesion before saving the new one.

I saved the prop in completely different name.
    No problem now.

    @Richard
    Did that, but no avail.

In that case, ddi you save the asset before the sceen or the scene before the asset? If you saved the scene first the data will be embedded, it won't be able to reach into the saved scene file and redirect to the saved asset after the fact.

I don't remember which one is first. Cos I save the prop and save the scene a couple of times.

Anyway, I clear the scene and did what crosswind suggested. I can save the prop with the name I wanted now.

    [Bother],
    It works for awhile.
    Now it changes back again.
From where does DAZ pull the shape anyway?
Is DAZ has somekind of cache or something?
I mean I already delete the 'backhead' file from 'data' folder.
That's where the geometry data is saved, right?

It worked for awhile. I tested it with a few figures, while keep working on the hijab.
    No Problem.
Then I save a figure with the Backhead as a subset scene .
Load my old scene, load the subset scene  figure, then the sphere back to the hi-res.
I can't make it low res again.

    Update
I have a suspicion where DAZ getting the hi res backhead sphere.
I think it pulls the shape somehow from my old file in my main DAZ content folder.
I have my old file with the same name there.
The backhead sphere from my old file is hi-res with the same number of polygons with the one that kept reverting back.
Meanwhile the file I'm currently working on is on my desktop in a new folder seperated from my main content.

The question is why DAZ pulls the backhead sphere geometry from my old file?

    Is this a  bug?

    -----
Anyway, I deleted all my old files in my main DAZ content.
It seems to fix the problem.
    Hopefully forever.

Yes, there are DSON cache relate to the figure assets you've ever loaded but the cache will be updated each time when you load the figure. If you delete the geometry dsf file(s) in data folder, there'll be an error message when you load the figure / prop... but the cache will be updated as usual. So just double-check them... or try to clear the cache in F2 if needed.

BTW, what's the purpose that you make such a "backhead spherer" ? for making morph or for simulation or something?

Before wearing a hijab, woman with long hair will make a bun. and then cover all hair with first layer of cloth.
The first layer of cloth has many style, sometimes make the back of the head big or long.
The sphere is only for mimicking it. so when the hijab drapes (Simulated), it doesn't go flat following the head, instead a bit more roundish on the back.

Anyway, my old file sphere with the same name on different folder seems causing the problem.
I've deleted it, and everything seems to work now. It doesnt revert back again to the hi-res sphere.

It seems DAZ won't work right if there's two item with the same name. It took the sphere from my old file.
    Weird.

Okay, understood! So if a female character wears such a "traditional hijab" in DS, she should not have a hair first of all, correct ? So if I were you, maybe I would think of some options - : 1) make that "first layer of cloth" as an accessory; 2) make an inner supporting geometry within the hijab ( more likely the sphere you're working on... ) , create some morphs with different shapes on it and set it with no or less simulation; 3) use dForce modifier weight node with a well painted map on it...
