Help: file doesn't work

Yesterday I put a freebie out there:

http://www.sharecg.com/v/82344/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Chocolate-Cups

And today someone told me they can't open it because a file is missing. (attached picture).
Message: missing file: /data/taemimun/Product/Cup/cup with UV.dsf

When she loads the item, it shows as the second attached picture.

Can anybody please help me make it work? Apparently, a file is missing, and I did find this file in my computer but it's in .obj and .mtl, not in .dsf as it asks...
Also, I thought it was not necessary to have a data folder... Some freebies don't and still work...

The .dsf file is in data folder.. This is the object file that used to be used. Nothing works without that, as it holds the basic info to make the item.

Thanks for answering! Love your works smiley

Is there a specific way that I have to save the files, or just create the folders and put the product there?

I was also checking one of my downloads, a freebie sword I got yesterday, and they have no data folder. is it possible to put as geometries too?

    The folders needed:

    data/yourname/product/files*

    Props (in this case)/yourname/product/files*

    Props/yourname/product/Materials/files*

    Runtime/Textures/yourname/product/files*

If you want to add the mesh in obj format, then it goes into

    Runtime/Geometries/yourname/product/files*

    * = The 'files' are the actual dsf, jpg, etc files not another folder.   The 'yourname' folder is optional, but I think it's a good idea to group your stuff by your own name.

For Daz format items, the Geometries is not needed as the dsf file in the data folder IS the geometry file.

One little gotcha, elaborating on what mjc said; the /Product/ in the path shown indicates you didn't put anything in the Product Name slot when you created the item as a Prop Asset. It's a good idea to always do this, especially when you're making freebies for general release. If you don't, everything you create gets lumped into a single /Product/ subfolder in your /data/ folder, and it's easy to lose track of something in the clutter.

Nope...there's just a zero byte cup file in the data folder.

Ok, I did everything from the start with the .obj and .mtl files in the geometries folder i used already. It might work now: http://www.sharecg.com/v/82344/view/21/DAZ-Studio/Chocolate-Cups

    I really hope it does...

It's still not working...the geometry file needs to be in dsf format, which means after you import the obj, you need to save as a prop...

File > Save As > Support Asset > Figure/Prop Asset.

Also the materials files are 'hard coded' to read to YOUR hard drive...so they aren't loading correctly, either.

No /data/ folder at all this time. Note that the .duf file contains a reference to the converted-to-D|S-format geometry, so on its own, it's useless without the files in the /data/ folder. Importing the .obj file will work, of course, but that throws away all the setup information in the .duf file.

Another problem, and it's more serious, none of the materials files work. Are you using your folder /!Cups by Cherubit/ as a work-in-progress location? If so, it must be logged in D|S as a content location so that any computer except yours will know where to find the texture files. It's only working on your computer because the files exist where you put them; only your computer has those files in that folder.

On the plus side, it is a very nice cup — thick and chunky, just right for warming your hands on a cold day.

The texture references are absolute paths...not relative.

    I'm gonna cry.................. crying
    I will try again!

what needs to be inside of data folder? only the .dsf?

Yes, I'm using the foler !Cups by Cherubit. How do I log it as a content location?

Thank you for the compliment haha... I will be very happy to make this cup work... Seemed easier than I expected... cheeky

There will also be a /UV Sets/ folder, this is what tells D|S how to "skin" the texture files so they fit onto the object mesh. If you don't include this as well, then it will be impossible to apply a texture image to the object.

Edit>Preferences>Content Library and click on the Content Directory Manager button at the bottom. Click on the little triangle next to "DAZ Studio Formats" to see the locations you already have set. Click on the "Add" button and navigate to whatever folder you're using for WIP.

Don't feel too bad about this glitch, it catches out almost everyone at first. Apart from that, you seem to be doing well so far.

Yes it's quite complex and gives some headache haha... The worst is that I don't want to do only props, so there is still a loooot more to learn :P

I deleted by mistakes my directories but was able to put them back lol... Was scared for a moment...

Thank you cheeky haha... one day when I know more I will make tutorials to help other people too, just like im being helped heart
