Is there a good tutorial for creating a cityscape from Stonemason's various models. His promo graphics are great, but I need a how-to on how to recreat them. I'm working in Daz Studio and could render in either 3D or Iray. Trying to get some God Rays going with little luck using the Atmocam or the Iray AtmoCam.

I tried youtube but couldn't get any hits for D|S. Apparently Greeble is a generic architechture term for modelling. I got lots of hits for 3DS Max but none for Daz.

    couple tips.

-create instances as often as you can rather than reloading the same props from the library..to save on resources.

-create small groups of multiple props and save them back to the library for faster loading,(reload the saved groups and rotate 180 degrees to avoid repetition)

-a very important factor in cityscapes is atmospheric perspective, the effect of things desaturating  at a distance and losing detail  through city haze/smog,I usually do this in post-work via zdepth passes, but a fog camera should do the trick(keep it subtle)

-repetition is also a good way of selling depth in an image,be it as a row of street lamps receding into the distance or traffic etc

I've had the same "problem"; I have some Stonemason greebles but kind of stymied on how to approach it. Aside from the great advice by Stonemason himself, I found a few that have at least pointed me the right direction.

This tutorial on Deviantart is pretty much entirely for 2D work, but it has great advice on planning and lighting.

This tutorial on 3Dtotal is more devoted to people who create the 3D models, but it has some basic advice for a workflow, if a little thin on details.

I have a couple of Stonemason's city kits and sort of hoped for a "load city set" option rather than just loading individual elements.
