Rendering and Memory?
I'm using Daz Studio on a Mac Pro 3,1. It has 10 gb of memory but when I go to render a shot sequence every scrap of that memory is taken up. I use the Activity Monitor to check on this and there is no free memory. This results in a poor Page In/Out ratio. Is there a way to limit the memory used in rendering? Obviously, I'm looking to get more ram, but they don't make this particular ram anymore.

Try rendering a sub-set of frames, then restart. If that helps, please report the issue as it may indicate a memory leak of some kind.
Reducing the size of the output image can make a smallish difference.
DS can easily chew 20GB RAM with a big scene. Try to get RAM here: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#800-memory
The 2008 MacPro has special DIMMs and they are expenive, OWC is usally decent in price though.
