  • Dreamlight has this. I suggest waiting for a sale, if you were to get it.  I have no idea how good a tutorial it is.  I would suggest checking oiut this thread, though, before you buy anything.  There are a lot of skills you need to learn before you even get to the point where you create something to share.  I don't know what skill level you are stating at, but I would suggest watching tutorials about each independant aspect of character creation before you move on to the character as a whole package.  You need to learn how to customize your own skins, make custom morphs for character creation, rigging, etc.  There are a lot of videos on Youtube, as well, showing how to do all of these things.

  • Do you mean new characters (shapes and textures) for existing figures or completely new figures?

    @Richard

    both,

    A) i would like to know how to build a new Character from the base on, like victoria 7 is a totally new character.

    B) and i also would like to know how to build a derivate upon a base character like victoria 7

  • For B) have a look at http://www.daz3d.com/rigging-original-figures-in-ds4-pro and possibly http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-rigging-in-daz-studio-4-pro , though it is i think true that the way to edit prorpty links has changed since then.

There are still a few questions i have:

    A.  Victoria 7 , Eva 7 and LY Ashlyn HD, they all say in their details that they are for or based on the Genesis 3 Female.
        A.1.  Is there a difference between for  ( like Eva 7 ) and  based on ( like Victoria 7 ) Genesis 3 Female ?

    B.  Victoria 7 is a Genesis 3 Female model, but not the Genesis 3 Female base. So Differences between those 2 are..
B.1.  Does Victoria 7  differ from the Genesis 3 Female Base in shape ?   i think this one is yes  : )
        B.2
.  Do Victoria 7  and Genesis 3 Female Base share the same polygon topology ?
B.3.  Has Victoria 7's UV been altered and thus is different than the Genesis 3 Female Base one, to prevent texture stretching
which could be caused through the shape altering ?
B.4 . Has Victoria 7 the same amount of joints as Genesis 3 Female Base ?
B.5.  Has Victoria 7's joint weighting have been altered and thus is different than the Genesis 3 Female Base ones ?

    kind regards

No, there's no difference. Both simply mean that they are derived from G3F.

    Yes, she's a morphed version of G3F.

The mesh is the same, just morphed.

Yes, V7 adds her own custom UV to G3F.

    Yes

Not sure on that one. If it rerquired adjustments then they are included.

  • A.1 no

    B.1 yes

B.2 yes, V7 etc. are shapes, UV sets (usually) and textures for G3F

    B.3 yes

B.4 as noted above, the figure is G3F

B.5 again, the figure is G3F and - for good or ill - there is no dynamic modification of weight maps in DS

I bought two of their tutorials a while back on 3D lighting and was terribly disappointed with both of them.   I work for a company that makes training material for aircrew and aircraft technicians and have an excellent understanding of what educational material (either video or written) should look like.  When I detailed my reasons for wanting a refund on their tutorials I was refused and had to resort to having my credit card company issue a callback on the charges.

As KnittingMommy mentioned, there is a LOT of good free tutorial content available.  It's unfortunately scattered all over in a variety of formats.  What most folks do is download everything they find and create their own libraries.

Well I bought the tutorial from dreamlight they are having an 85% off sale so I got it for $22 instead of $149.  So far I like it but I am a total beginner so its not hard to learn something lol.  And it doesn't cover figures or clothing just props and buildings.  but its got hours and hours of video to watch.  If you want the coupon code message me and I will give it to you.

He actually has this at the DAZ store: http://www.daz3d.com/female-character-creation-tutorial-turn-your-v6-characters-into-cash

I don't know how good this tutorial is, I don't have it, nor am I interested in creating characters. I just remembered seeing it in the store.

I have it but unfortunately I still did not manage to watch it fully. As it is quite difficult to listen to the author since it has a lot of noise with his microphone.

I have Dreamlight's tutorial for creating G2 Females.  It is extremely detailed and contains a considerable amount of information.
