Daz rendering only a grey fog/noise depending on camera position
Hi all,
I've had this problem with one particular scene - i13 Dental Office - over the past day or so (it's the first time I've used this scene, bought it in a sale... like we do). The only non-standard element of the scene is the dentist chair, which I exported into Max so I could detach the separate seat elements, allowing me to articulate the chair in Daz. But the issue also occurs when loading the default scene without my modded version of the chair. I've added a pic of the scene (from a position/angle that works fine!).
See attached pic of the issue (both pics downscaled to a small jpg from 4k PNG because the full res images wouldn't upload). It's not an issue I've ever seen before and doesn't happen with any other scene. The problem occurs at random while moving cameras around the scene. In some angles/positions the cameras work fine. In others, the scene (either in iRay view, or when rendered) is completely obscured/replaced by this noisy, greeny grey cloud.
It's as if an invisible plane is being rendered in front of the camera. It's extremely strange - and doesn't go away, no matter what I try... And it seems to be limited to closer to the centre of the scene.
Any suggestions as to what might cause this would be very much appreciated.
I'm using the latest version of Daz (set to update automatically) and a GeForce RTX 3060. And as I mentioned at the start, this doesn't happen with any other of the hundreds of scenes I've built/own.
HA! Okay, I've solved the mystery while continuing to play with the scene and writing this post... Well, I've sort of solved it. I know what causes the issue, but I still don't know why! Within the ceiling model of the scene is a sub-model called "i13DOF_Light Covers". If this is hidden, then the problem magically goes away.
Maybe someone else who also owns this scene has some idea of the "why?" part of the mystery..!
As I solved the problem for myself, I considered deleting this post and moving on... but then decided it's probably worth posting, if only as a note for others who may have encountered the issue with this scene.

Are you sure that your camera isn't outside the room? Or inside another object?
What happens if you in perspective view look at where the camera is?
This is probably the "thin walls" issue. You should be able to fix it by selecting the "i13DOF_Light Covers" and in the surface tab switching "Thin Walled" to On. This does seem similar to an issue with the After Midnight Club that I remember back from the end of last year. This comment has some more details on that.
I also think so.. it may result from that 'artifact issue'. Switch on Thin Walled on its Surface, and change Base Mixing to : PBR Specular / Glossiness, then it'll be much clearer in the scene...
